Whitening can be done in 2 different ways:
Whitening in the clinic
This approach uses higher-concentration whitening agents, which are activated by light or heat. The entire procedure is carried out in the clinic, under the direct supervision of the dentist.
Although results may vary, an immediate and noticeable improvement is usually observed compared to the initial condition. Over time, additional sessions may be needed to maintain the results.
Whitening with the use of intraoral orthodontic appliances or home whitening
This whitening method uses gentler whitening agents, applied in a customized tray — also known as a “whitening splint” — which is worn for 3 to 8 hours each night over a period of 2 weeks.
The dentist monitors the progress of the treatment at regular check-ups. This is the most widely used method of whitening today.
